Bob:

Hey, good morning. This is Bob and Ryan with Surface Renew, and we wanted to talk a little bit today about the topic of bathtub paint Little Rock. A lot of people are wondering what it is that these tub and tile kits that aren’t like, Lowe’s home Depot. Sherwin-Williams what are those made of? And the short answer to that is that it’s an epoxy kit, which is a great binder that goes on top of your tub or tile surface and provide you that clean white look that you want. Some of the differences are why a little bit of a downfall of the kits. There is the fact that it’s an epoxy. So a poxy when exposed to light tends to yellow over time and when applied to thickly can crack. So we’ve seen a lot of customers over the years that have gone through the expense of a $50 bathtub paint kit or buying two $50 bathtub paint kits to do the surface. They’re trying to refinish only to have us come in and strip it all off. And then re-install our product over the top of it. Ryan, can you think of a few instances in the past where we’ve had to go in and a customer has been a little disappointed in the performance of their kit? They got, yeah, the

Ryan:

Home kids are great. If you’re just going to flip a house and you don’t expect a tub to last more than six months those kids are not designed for longevity of the quality of the products that we use. It’s meant for Bob and Sue homeowner to go in and make their Tableau good enough, just to flip the house. It doesn’t generally come with a true acid that you need to etch your tub if it’s a porcelain tub. And so you don’t get the true bind bond that an approximate would get to a, to a hard surface that, that ours would get through the prep to the nature of our prep that we do. And you’ll see peeling de lamination cracking. It just there’s, it doesn’t work is the thing. And then plus the, the fumes are from it or you don’t want to mess with it at home.

Bob:

Yeah. So let’s talk a little bit about how our coatings are different than bathtub paint Little Rock. Yeah, we still do have the fumes that, but some of the differences there, our guys are highly trained and have the correct protective gear to keep them safe and an exhaust system to keep the people in the home safe as well. But some of the big, if you want to talk about the chemical differences between what we buy from our tub, tub paint manufacturer, versus what you buy as bathtub paint Little Rock at a Lowe’s or Home Depot, number one, it’s two different products. And there’s two different products because they serve two different purposes. There’s our aerospace epoxy primer, which is what we call the glue to our process. It makes everything stick to the tub. And because as I mentioned earlier, a poxy tends to yellow and crack when exposed to light. We use a modified polyurethane to, as the white finished coat to provide seal coat or a finished coat to our process. And this is a lot tougher, yet flexible coating that moves as the tub expands and contracts in the hot water and cold water. And then another thing that we find out, Ryan, what are some of the key prep steps that we see missed when people use a home kit that are vitally important to keep it from delaminating peeling? Like you mentioned earlier.

Bathtub Paint Little Rock | The Best Options At Your Disposal

Ryan:

The most, most important part is the prepping. It is when you asked it at you, it’s a mild, 2% phosphoric acid we use. And it’s got a cleaning agent too that helps cut the oils and stuff, but the acid actually opens up the pores on a microscopic level on the on the porcelain and porcelain is called porcelain. Cause it has pores. It’s not poor lists like it is after we’re done with it, but it is a porcelain and it opens up the, opens up the poorest to allow the epoxy to get in and get a physical grip on the tub instead of just being on top of it, like like a true paint would be. And then part of the procedure too, after we asked it, as we fixed the chips and dings and stuff like that, which you will not have it doesn’t, they don’t send you any polyester fillers with your kit to fix the chips and dings. So your tub’s going to look bright and shiny. Oh, you’ll get, if it’s bright and shiny with the home kit, you get lucky, but you’re the chips and dings will still be there cause you don’t have a way to fill

Bob:

It. One of the things that we’ve seen over time, people have the best of intentions and try to clean their porcelain or baked metal tub when using bathtub paint Little Rock, but cleaning is just not enough. Ryan alluded to the fact that we have to use a relatively mild, but nonetheless, an acid cleaner to etch that surface. And but just etching itself. Isn’t enough. I’ve heard of people never seen this one, but I’ve heard of people taking things like a toilet bowl, cleaner or an acid in dumping it into a tub of water and letting it sit there. And then they drain the tub and think, okay, now they’re good to refinish it. But the problem is there’s another step that has to be performed when you’re painting a bathtub. And that is once you acid at you, you have to wet sand it because all the dust residue sits on top and that’s what will cause it to de-laminate. Cause the bath tub paint Little Rock is actually adhering to the, the dust from the acid instead of to the actual surface tub surface itself.
